Walk Around the World is a community fitness program that encourages people to try and incorporate physical activity into their daily lives in an effort to reduce the risk of chronic lifestyle diseases.
Anyone can join – the program is open to anyone and is suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
Walk Around the World in an annual program run in March each year. From mid way through January people can register online to receive a pedometer and their own page where they can log their steps every day in March.
The program costs $20. Council funds the program and any money raised is invested back into the community and put towards the installation of public exercise equipment and play equipment for children with disabilities in our local public parks.
You can join up as an individual or get a group together and walk as part of a team
Walk Around the World is a initiative of Lane Cove Council, The Rotary Club of Lane Cove and Lane Cove Aquatic Leisure Centre. It is endorsed by Diabetes NSW.
