Junior Library

The Lane Cove Junior Library is a vibrant welcoming environment that provides reading and study spaces for children and their carers. Public PCs are available for children to access the Internet or play educational games.

Collections include picture books, fiction, non fiction, graphic novels, audiobooks, eResources and magazines.

Reading inspires lifelong learning. Libraries want to help motivate kids, teens and adults to stay engaged with their reading throughout their life. Shorelink libraries are now offering new reading programs designed to encourage literacy, and make it fun, including the Summer Reading Club, all ages reading challenges, and 1000 books before school, a new program for pre-schoolers launching in 2020, using our new Beanstack app.

In a move towards more sustainable programming, using the Beanstack app will cut down on paper wastage. Beanstack is a free online service offering innovative new ways to connect our community with books and reading activities to match each person's interests, age and reading level. The service includes book and activity logging, badges and registration for all members of the family under one account.

Simply register one time to participate in library sponsored reading programs and activities all year round! Available 24/7 through your computer or mobile device, android and iOS, Beanstack uses the information you provide to send out great book and activity recommendations and allows users to write reviews of their latest reads.

To join Beanstack go to shorelink.beanstack.com, or go to beanstack.com and search for Shorelink as your library service, and sign up for an account.

December 1 to January 31

Read books! Write reviews! Win Prizes!

Join our Shorelink Summer Reading Club! Keep track of your reading over the holidays and write or draw book reviews to go into the draw to receive prizes at the end of the summer holidays. Sign up for the program at Lane Cove, Greenwich, Stanton and Mosman Libraries, or register online using the Beanstack app.

For every 5 book reviews handed in, or written in Beanstack, you can receive a small prize from the library, and after every 10 reviews you gain an entry into the major prize draw to be held at the end of the summer holidays. Reviews can be written, or a picture can be drawn, either about the book, or how it made the reader feel. If you are using Beanstack, please show your app to the library desk to receive your prizes.

Every child who submits an entry is invited to attend the end of Summer Reading Club wrap-up party on Tuesday 4 February 2020 from 3:30pm to 4:30pm where we will hand out the major prizes for Lane Cove and Greenwich Libraries.
