Summer Reading Club

Read books! Write reviews! Win prizes! Join our Shorelink summer reading club! Keep track of your reading over the summer holidays and hand in book reviews to go into the draw to receive prizes at the end of the summer. Sign up at Lane Cove, Greenwich, Stanton and Mosman Libraries, and keep track of your reading logs using our Beanstack app, available from November 28 2019. Every child who puts in an entry is invited to attend our end of Summer Reading Club wrap-up games event on Tuesday February 4 2020 from 3:30 to 4:30pm where we will hand out the prizes for Lane Cove and Greenwich Libraries. Lane Cove's Lighting of the Christmas Tree

Lane Cove Choristers Concert

The 2019 concert will have a range of music from old favourites and traditional, classical anthems, jazz, comedy, Australian and International carols. History Talk – Australians in the Western Desert in World War II
Tuesday 10 December, 6:15pm – 7:30pm, Lane Cove Library
The outbreak of World War II saw Australia commit support to the British Empire, and naval, air and army units moved to the middle-east and Europe. As in World War I Australian troops trained in Egypt and were committed to fighting off the Italian, and later joint German and Italian invasions of Egypt. This session will focus on Australian engagements in the Western Desert in 1941-1942 and include Bardia, Tobruk and El Alamein.
Hear Rod Cooke discuss the Western Desert campaign. Rod served as a Cavalry Officer in the Australian Regular Army for 16 years and in the Army Reserve for a further 21 years and is a member of the Lane Cove RSL Sub-branch.
