Talking Urban Birds

A collection of short talks by Birdlife Australia's Urban Bird Team to update you on how our urban birds are faring. Hear about the Powerful Owl Project, including data from 'It's All in the Family' genetics project; discover the trends identified by the Aussie Backyard Bird Count; find out why urban gardens are so important for birds and how to make a good one. Tune in for urban bird stories and a great opportunity to ask questions.

Waterbug Blitz

Grab a dip net and magnifying glass and join in the Waterbug Blitz to discover which aquatic creatures are living in our creeks! These tiny creatures are great indicators of waterway health, so any waterbugs you collect will provide useful information about our creeks.  A great Citizen Science program for all the family to be involved with. Australia Council Grant Information Session (Northern Sydney)

This free information session is a chance to learn more about the Australia Council's grants program. Over the course of an hour, staff from the Australia Council's Artist Support team will provide an overview of:

  • The types of grants and funding Australia Council provides;
  • The process of applying for a grant; and
  • Where grant applicants can go if they have more questions.

This information session will be held on Zoom. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions during the event via the chat function.

This event is presented by the City of Ryde, Hornsby Shire Council, Ku-ring-gai Council, Lane Cove Council, North Sydney Council and Willoughby City Council, in partnership with Australia Council for the Arts.

Street Art Cycle Tour

Complete a guided bike tour of Lane Cove's Street Art while discovering the safest and smoothest ways to get around your neighbourhood. Update your knowledge of road rules, bike safety equipment and how to plan your route. Enjoy morning tea on us when you return to Lane Cove Plaza. All participants must be 16+ years and be able to confidently ride a bike.

You will need to bring a road worthy bike and a correctly fitting Australian/NZ Standards helmet.
