Synergy's Sustainability and Indigenous Culture Camp for Lane Cove Youth
Tuesday 8 October – Friday 11 October, Nura Gunyu, Ulladulla Region, $200 per person
Young people will gain and understanding of Aboriginal heritage and the importance of environment through storytelling, yarning, walking and cultural excursions as well as hands on activities amongst the land. Additional content will include: bush foods, medicinal plants and their uses, tools and weapons (demonstration and participation), firelighting (demonstration and participation), music, song and dance (participation). All meals are freshly prepared on site and those with dietary requirements are catered for. Eco-friendly shower and toilet facilities are available.

History Talk – Agincourt 1415 – The Very First Battle of the Somme
Tuesday 15 October, 6:15pm – 7:30pm, Lane Cove Library
Hear military historian and battlefield guide David Wilson discuss the background to the Battle of Agincourt within the context of the Hundred Years War, including an analysis of the arms, armour and tactics used to create this significant victory.  David graduated from the Royal Military College, Duntroon in 1975 into the Infantry Corps and served 47 years in both Regular Army and Reserves. He is a fully Accredited Member of the Guild of Battlefield Guides and he visited the Agincourt site in August 2018.

Free Child Car Seat Safety Check

March for Age Equality

Lane Cove seniors, their families and friends are invited to wear purple and join a march to celebrate the lives of older people and raise awareness about the negative impact of ageism on older people. The marching group will depart the library together at 10.50am then gather at the bandstand in the Plaza for a Mayoral welcome and light entertainment
from the Older Women’s Network. The march will then continue along Longueville Road to the Longueville Hotel (cnr Little Street) ending at 11:30am. Please wear something purple.

Sydney Indie Documentary Showcase Event

11:30am - Take your dream (1hr 38min) - A father and his two sons take a daring adventure down the River Murray to inspire the youth of Australia and bring awareness to the high rate of suicide.
1:30pm - One World: The Ocean of Presence (1hr 30min) - Braco is a man from Croatia who has not spoken to the public since 2004. Awarded a peace Pole at a United Nations event in 2012, this film documents dramatic life changing experiences.
3:30pm - Treading Lightly (1hr 13min) – is the personal journey of Nick and Jamie, a young couple experimenting with a strict, low impact lifestyle for one year.
