Introduction to nbn

Each year, nbn™ brand ambassadors attend events which allow them to connect with members of the community. These events help to ensure all Australians can learn more about making the most of their nbn™ experience.

This 60-minute online event covers nbn™ rollout including necessary technology and how to get connected.  After a 30-minute presentation, audience members can ask questions using Zoom audio or chat.

This is a Shorelink Libraries Adult Learner's Week event.

Teaching Your Learner Driver Online Workshop

Teaching someone to drive can be a happy experience. You can learn all the simple steps on how to teach a learner driver at a FREE online workshop. Learner drivers are also invited to attend.

Lane Cove Bush Kids – Echidna Antics

What has a long, sticky tongue, lays eggs and has a spiny coat?  An echidna! Come along on a bushwalk and try some bark rubbing.

Fun Fridays

Singer-songwriter and world music inspired musician, Miriam Lieberman, alongside trio members, Susie Bishop and Lara Goodridge, will be taking you though some songs and instruments from around the world in this interactive Fun Fridays session. Get ready for warm harmonies, playful strings and lots of fun!

Water Bug Blitz 

Grab a dip net and magnifying glass and join in the Water Bug Blitz to discover which aquatic creatures are living in our creeks. These tiny creatures are great indicators of waterway health, so any water bugs you collect will provide useful information about our creeks. A great Citizen Science program for all the family! Growing Ferns and Groundcovers

Furniture Repair Demonstration including Q&A 

'Visit' the fully-equipped workshop of The Bower in Marrickville with experts who will guide you through some basics of furniture repair.  This 30-minute presentation will cover use and maintenance of tools, how to repair a stool and glue components.  During the next half hour, participants have time to ask questions about their own projects using Zoom audio or chat.

Clothing Repair Demonstration including Q&A 

Give new life to your much-loved clothes with guidance from the experts at The Bower.  This session runs for 30 minutes and covers use and maintenance of tools, repairing a faulty zip, buttons and fabric holes.  Over the next 30 minutes, attendees can ask questions about their own projects using Zoom audio or chat.

Free Online Author Talk with Belinda Alexandra 

Be part of the experience and join in this online conversation with Belinda Alexandra as she discusses her latest novel, The Mystery Woman.  

Rebecca Wood had thought Shipwreck Bay was simply a remote town where people were bored senseless with their little lives. After fleeing a scandal and haunted by her past, she is now determined to make different choices and is ready for a quiet life as the new postmistress of a sleepy seaside town. However, in a small town, everyone is watching and nothing is what it seems.

This event is a collaboration between NSW Public Libraries.

Land Clean Up – Tambourine Bay

Join us as part of the 2066 Litter Challenge and help to collect litter around Tambourine Bay and Warraroon Reserve. This event will see us clean-up creeks, wetlands, mangroves and bushland, all while enjoying a beautiful bushwalk!

Lox Tow Kids with Alexx Stuart

Join Council and Willoughby City Council for this empowering workshop by author Alexx Stuart, where we will help you to find confidence to make great consumer choices for your children.

We'll examine the top preservatives, additives and chemicals that are found in common foods, personal care products and around the home, and discover where minimising exposure would be a good idea due to the potential health and environmental issues.

This workshop is suitable for parents of kids under 10, parents-to-be, grand-parents and carers.

Join us for a morning kayaking around Woodford Bay whilst we collect marine litter as part of the 2066 Litter Challenge.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, tickets are only available for pairs from the same household, as they will be sharing a double kayak.

Double kayaks supplied, medium level fitness required, no kayaking experience needed. Minimum age 11 years old. Under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult.

Bags, gloves and litter pickers provided. BYO water and snack.

Free Online Author Talk with Monica McInerney 

Be part of the experience and join in this online conversation with Monica McInerney as she discusses her latest novel, The Godmothers.

Eliza Miller grew up in Australia as the only daughter of a troubled young mother, but with the constant support of two watchful godmothers, Olivia and Maxie. Despite her tricky childhood, she felt loved and secure. Until, just before her 18th birthday, a tragic event changed her life.

Child Restraint Check Vouchers

Did you know that 2 in 3 child car seats are not fitted correctly? Or that a child is twice as likely to be injured if using the wrong seat? 

Council runs free child car seat checking services for residents via a Voucher Program. Apply for a voucher by contacting Council's Road Safety Officer on 02 9911 3576. Vouchers can be redeemed at a local authorised restraint checking station in Artarmon.
