Residential Parking Permit

Resident Parking permits are available to residents who live on a street where a resident parking scheme exists.

Residents are entitled to a maximum of two (2) resident parking permits, with only those properties having no off street parking entitled to TWO (2) permits (as per RTA guidelines which are mandatory).

Resident Permit Fees

1st Permit : $30 per vehicle

2nd Permit : $50 per vehicle

3rd Permits or for trailers boats and Caravans $100 per permit

Pensioners receive a discount of 50%

Residents applying for permits need to submit an Application Form along with a copy of your Rate Notice, Residential Tenancy Agreement, or Driver’s License verifying the stated place of residence and NSW Registration for the vehicle nominated. For company cars, Council requires a letter on company letterhead indicating that you are the sole keeper and user of the vehicle and confirming your residential address. The letter should be signed by a senior representative of the company.

Resident Parking Permits are NOT INTERCHANGEABLE between vehicles, and each permit will record the Registration number details of the vehicle it is issued for. The Permit must be placed adjacent to the registration label on the windscreen.

Visitor Parking Permit

Council has a Visitor Parking Scheme for those residents residing in the Parking Scheme Zones. The Permit is valid to 31st of January each year.


Visitor/Trade Parking Permit Fees

1st Permit: $ 10 per day  or $ 20 per week

2nd Permit: $ 20 per day or $ 40 per week

3rd and subsequent permit: $ 40 per day or $ 100 per week

Visitor Permits are also available on a three monthly basis from the time of purchase at the cost of $50 per permit.  These Permits are NOT INTERCHANGEABLE between vehicles. The responsibility is on the resident to retrieve the permit from the visitor’s vehicle. Visitor’s / Trades permits must be clearly displayed on the dashboard.

To obtain this permit, residents can check the Visitor Permit request on the Application Form.

Senior Parking Permit

Council has provided a number of designated 'Seniors' parking spaces in Council's car parks. To use these spaces, you must be a Lane Cove resident and at least 60 years of age.

To receive a Seniors’ Parking Permit complete a Seniors Parking Permit Application Form and have a Seniors Card and Rate Notice or Tenancy Agreement. Bring these three documents to Council for sighting by our Customer Service Staff OR send your completed Seniors Parking Permit Application form together with a photocopy of your Seniors Card and a photocopy of a recent Rate Notice or Tenancy Agreement to Council.

Upon receipt of the Application Form and sighting of these two documents we will issue your Seniors Parking Permit to the address stated on the application form.

There is no charge for this permit.

The permits are valid ONLY in marked “Seniors Parking Permit” car spaces within Lane Cove Council car parks. These permits are not valid for parking in “Disabled” car spaces.

Other Questions and Answers

Is the holder of a RTA Mobility Parking Authority entitled to park in a Seniors’ Parking Space ?


No. Council requires that you obtain a Lane Cove Council Seniors Parking Permit in addition to the RTA Mobility Parking Authority.

Where is it best to display the Seniors’ Parking Permit?


Please display your Seniors’ Parking Permit on the passenger side of the windscreen each and every time you park in a Seniors Parking Space. Fines apply when permit not displayed.

How long is the permit valid ?


Your permit is valid for a 2 year period of time.

How can a permit be cancelled?


Council reserves the right to revoke a Seniors Parking Permit in the event of a breach of Conditions of Use.  All Seniors Parking Permits remain the property of Lane Cove Council at all times.

Disabled Parking Permit

The Mobility Parking Scheme (MPS) and the Australian Disability Parking Scheme are both provided through the RTA.

Road Activity Permits

Residents and companies wanting to Stand Plant, place a Skip Bin, undertake Filming or apply for a Temporary Road Closure are required to fill out the corresponding application form and submit all documentation as required by that form.

The application will not be processed if the documentation required is not provided.

Payment is required upon submission of the application form however approval will only be given once the application has been assessed and the applicant has received written or verbal approval from the Traffic Manager.

The minimum processing times for applications are:-

Same day approvals WILL NOT be given unless deemed to be exceptional circumstances by the Traffic Manager.

All applications that are received will be assessed on an individual basis and the necessity of representation to Traffic Committee.

If for any reason, the event is cancelled or postponed, it is the applicant’s responsibility to notify Council prior tot the scheduled date for a full refund. Failure to do so may result in the applicant forfeiting the entire payment. Satisfactory evidence would have to be supplied to Council if a full refund is sought after the date of event has passed.

Payments

Payment of Permit Fees can be made to Council by:-

  • Cheque - made payable to Lane Cove Council
  • Cash - accepted only in person at Civic Centre (48 Longueville Road, Lane Cove, NSW 2066)
  • Credit Card - in person at Civic Centre (48 Longueville Road, Lane Cove, NSW 2066) or via the submission of Credit Card Payment Authority Form.
