Council provides
a rebate to eligible pensioners of up to a maximum of $250 per year.
To be eligible for a full year rebate, the date the pension was
granted must be prior to 1 July in any rating year. A customer will
be eligible for a 75% rebate if the date of grant is prior to 1
October. A 50% rebate if the date of grant is prior to 1 January,
or a 25% rebate if the date of grant is prior to 1 April. Customers
who become eligible between 1 April and 1 July are not entitled
to any rebate within the rating year.
When a person ceases to be an eligible pensioner, dies or sells
the property, a proportion of the rebate granted for the year is
written back as payable. Its the same as granting a rebate, the
write back will equal the number of full remaining quarters in the
year.
To obtain a discount:-
customers are required to attend Council's offices and bring their
current Rates Notice (if available) and Pensioner Concession card
which will be photocopied. To be eligble the details on the card
must match the property owner on the rates notice; and
an Application form is to be completed. Please remember Customers
who become eligible between 1 April and 1 July are not entitled
to any rebate within the current rating year.
The rebate will then be calculated based on the number of full quarters
left in the year relevant to the "effective date" (date
of grant) on the Pensioner Concession Card. The rebate is calculated
by dividing the annual rebate allowable by four and multiplying
the result by the remaining full quarters left in the financial
year.
