Recent reforms to the Crown Land Management Act 2016 have transferred the care, management and control of dedicated or reserved Crown Land to Council, in accordance with the Local Government Act 1993.

At the Ordinary Council Meeting on 17 June 2019, Council resolved to consult with the community in relation to the revised Draft Community Land Plan of Management and the proposed classifications for Crown Land now managed by Council.

The Draft Plan applies to the use, management and classification of community land including dedicated or reserved Crown Land managed by Council.  It identifies categories of community land for use by the general public and provides objectives for each of these categories:-

  • Park;
  • Sportsground;
  • Natural area (subcategorised further as bushland, wetland, foreshore, watercourse, escarpment); and
  • General community use.

Under the Draft Plan, Council may grant leases, licences, hire arrangements or other estates as required.

Whats next?

Following assessment of all submissions, a Post Consultation report and Final Draft Plan will be prepared for consideration at the September 2019 meeting of Council.
