Council recently consulted with the community on a
policy and registration system which requires commercial dog walkers to
register with Council and comply with certain conditions in order to
operate their business on public land.
A draft policy was been prepared, which set out
conditions for the use of its parks and reserves by commercial dog
walking businesses. It outlined a registration system whereby commercial
dog walkers must register with Council, provide a copy of their public
liability insurance and then comply with certain conditions.
A further report which addressed the feedback
received during the consultation period was submitted to Council for
consideration at the Ordinary Council Meeting of 21 October 2013. Council resolved to adopt the policy and place on exhibition
the proposed fees and charges associated (i.e. the Initial
Registration Application - $50 and Annual Fee - $200. A further report
will be submitted to Council regarding any submissions received on the
proposed fees at an upcoming Council meeting.
