Consultation is now closed
Consultation ran from 28 November 2019 to 24 January 2019.
A concept design for the new pocket park at 552 Mowbray Road was presented to the Ordinary Council Meeting held on Monday 18 November 2019 and subsequently endorsed for public consultation. Council also resolved to submitted the name Djanaba Nura as the suggested name to the Geographical Names Board for consideration.
The site slopes north-south and provides an opportunity to create spaces utilising the natural topography. Nearby Mindarie Park is a high use park with a range of active and passive activities. This small park will provide space for passive activities such as seating, a small area for play incorporating a nature-based theme and interactive play sculpture, and a BBQ with accessible seating at the top of the park. Providing a space for play, solitude and small family BBQ’s.
The name Djanaba Nura has been suggested, which in the Cammeraygal language translates to "Laughter Place". This will be submitted to the Geographical Names Board for consideration and if approved, a further call for submissions will be held.
A Report on the community consultation is being prepared for the next Council Meeting.
