Council recently consulted with the community on the second stage of proposed modifications to the Lane Cove Plaza.
This consultation followed a survey which was conducted in late 2012 to find out what the Lane Cove community wanted to see undertaken as part of the next stage of the Lane Cove Plaza upgrade. The community's comments, ideas and suggestions were considered and this feedback was incorporated into the Concept Plans developed.
In this most recent consultation phase which ran from September to October 2013, Council sought the communities views on those Concept Plans. The plans identify the major components being considered, provide perspectives that provide a conceptual view of the proposals and offer some suggestions for the materials being considered for the shelters, balustrades, furniture and paving.
This provided all those in our community, residents, visitors and business owners alike, with the opportunity to comment on these concept plans and have their say on the look and feel of the Lane Cove Plaza. Comments received will now be considered in refining the design prior to undertaking the works.
Following the community consultation period and the assessment of feedback received during that process, design development documentation is now being prepared with consultants from BN Group Pty Ltd. Council is also awaiting fee proposals from lighting, electrical and hydraulic consultants. Completion of the tender package for this project is expected by the end of March 2014 and it is anticipated that construction may commence in early June 2014.
