Oz Harvest Food Rescue Project

The Project

Council are on a mission with OzHarvest to reduce the amount of food being thrown away from local businesses and, in doing so , also helping them reduce their waste disposal costs. A win – win for the community and the environment.

OzHarvest is a charitable organisation that picks up surplus food from retailers that would otherwise be thrown away. The food is distributed locally to charitable organisations including homeless shelters and assists many people that are less fortunate than ourselves or those that have fallen on hard times.

OzHarvest also makes a difference in reducing the amount of food waste that would otherwise go to landfill.

Council will be supporting the fantastic work OzHarvest is doing in Lane Cove by assisting our local food businesses to get involved in this very worthwhile and socially responsible program.

How to Get Involved

If you are  a business owner who would like to donate your surplus food to OzHarvest simply call Council’s Waste & Environmental Education Officer on 9911 3699.

Alternatively click here to read about the benefits Lane Cove OzHarvest Food Rescue can bring to your business and access the registration form here.

Participating businesses will receive a shopfront window sticker to highlight your commitment to the program. This will give residents an opportunity to easily identify those businesses participating in this program and giving back to our community. To see an image of the window sticker click here.
