Council was on-site for today's announcement of NSW Government funding to improve the safety of the intersection of Longueville Road, Northwood Road
and River Road West (the intersection at The Diddy).
The NSW Government and Council will each contribute $1
million towards the upgrade. The works will include installing a dedicated
right turn lane for motorists continuing
their journey onto Longueville Road towards Lane Cove Village as well as
introducing right turn movement onto River Road West from Longueville Road.
Mayor of Lane Cove, Clr Pam Palmer said, “Lane Cove
Council has worked with RMS on an improved design for this very complex and
“Council is committed to safer roads in Lane Cove and
everyone who uses this busy section of our road network will benefit.”
Member for Lane Cove, Anthony Roberts MP, said the
proposed improvements would be delivered as part of the NSW Government’s
program to improve safety on Sydney’s busiest road corridors. “Around 22,000 vehicles travel through this
intersection each day so it is important to ensure these motorists are provided
with a safer intersection", Mr Roberts said.
The below plan is a draft concept plan only. Roads and Maritime Services and Lane Cove Council will keep
the community informed as the upgrade progresses.
