Boat Trailer Parking in Lane Cove
Lane Cove Council is one of several Sydney areas that has the authority to enforce unattended registered boat trailers under the Impounding Amendment (Unattended Boat Trailers) Act 2015. Council opted in to the scheme to help discourage the long-term parking of unattended registered boat trailers on public roads The legislation is mainly targeted at people from other areas who use their boat a couple of times a year and leave it on our local streets the rest of the time.
Under the scheme, boat trailers are required to be moved at least every 28 days and they must move at least one street block. When a boat trailer is marked by a Council Ranger it signals the commencement of the 28 day period. If the trailer has not been moved at the end of this 28 day period, Council will provide the registered owner with 15 days notice after which time the trailer can be impounded.
By encouraging off-street storage of boat trailers, existing on-street parking spaces are more available for local residents and visitors. Please note the legislation relates only to registered boat trailers not registered box trailers and caravans.
If your boat has a sticker placed on it by Council then you have 28 days to move it before it is impounded. If your boat has been impounded phone 9911 3555 to arrange for payment of the towing fee and collection of the trailer
