Additional changes to construction hours
On 11 June the NSW Government made a further change to construction hours across the State which supersedes their previous announcement that temporary COVID-19 measures would cease from 7 June 2021.
Under the Environmental Planning and Assessment (COVID-19 Development—Construction Work Days) Order (No 2) 2021, work will be allowed on Saturdays from 7am to 5pm, except for the carrying out of rock breaking, rock hammering, sheet piling, pile driving or similar activities.
Quieter works will be allowed on Sundays from 9am to 5pm such as tiling, painting and safety checks as well as professional works and administrative activities related to a construction site. Workers must not play music on any device or equipment or use a radio. No work will be allowed on public holidays.
The new Order aims to support industry to continue to operate safely while providing residents respite with limits on what work can be undertaken.
These changes will be in place until March 2022.
Further details of the changes can be found on the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment's website.
This information supersedes the details published in April and May 2021.
