On 25 March 2021, the NSW Government extended the prescribed period for the temporary planning measures until 31 March 2022.
The extension continues the following measures:
- Allowing retail premises, including supermarkets, to receive deliveries 24 hours a day;
- Ministerial Orders;
- Enabling the public inspection of documents through the NSW Planning Portal;
- Special provisions for public meetings and public hearings of planning bodies; and
- Ministerial Direction relating to the timing of local infrastructure contribution payments.
Lane Cove residents can review the full list of Ministerial Orders and updates by visiting the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment website.
Of note is the extension of the Ministerial Order regarding extended construction hours until March 2022.
In April 2020 the NSW Government gave construction sites approval to operate on weekends and public holidays under rules introduced to support the industry during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a result Council can only investigate weekend and public holiday construction complaints if they fall outside the usual weekday construction site operating hours or do not meet the conditions specified in the Ministerial Order.
