The 2020 Festival by the River program is here! While things might look a little different this year, Council is excited to host a range of events that celebrate life on the river. Self-guided River Walks


Spending time in a pleasant environment has a calming and restorative effect on the mind and body. Experience this for yourself on one of these beautiful riverside walks: 

Manns Point Lookout to Greenwich Baths, Greenwich

500m, 10mins.

Grade: Moderately easy

A scenic walk along the harbour foreshore with spectacular views of the harbour and city. Treat yourself to a swim at Greenwich Baths, entry fees apply.

Access to walk: From Prospect St, Greenwich or Greenwich Sailing Club car park.

Shell Park to Greenwich Point, Greenwich

800m, 20mins.

Grade: Easy

A mostly flat waterfront walk through shaded bushland and open parks that provides view of the harbour. Stop to explore the small sandy beach at low tide.

Access to walk: From Greenwich Road (northern end) or Greenwich Point Ferry Wharf, Lower Serpentine Rd (southern end).

Tambourine Bay Reserve to Warraroon Reserve, Riverview

1.5km, 40mins.

Grade: Moderately easy

A diverse walk past sandstone cliffs and overhangs and riverside mangroves, wetlands and wildflowers. Take a picnic overlooking the bay.

Access to walk: Main access is from Tambourine Bay Park, end of Tambourine Bay Road, Riverview.

Burns Bay Reserve, Riverview

400m, 10mins.

Grade: Easy

A foreshore walk with views across Burns Bay and passing by open parks, remnant bushland and historic Carisbrook House. A great spot to launch your kayak or boat.

Access to walk: Main access is from the end of Kooyong Road, Riverview

Lovetts Reserve: Blackman Park to The Boreen, Lane Cove West

1.2km, 30mins.

Grade: Moderate

A high waterside bush track with sandstone cliffs, wildflowers and views over the Lane Cove River. Grab a bite at the newly opened Puppy Tail café at Blackman Park.

Access to walk: Main access is from the southwest corner of Blackman Park, Lloyd Rees Drive. Please note that there is a partial track closure beyond The Boreen.

Ventemans Reach: Blackman Park to Stringybark Creek Crossing, Lane Cove West

1km, 20mins.

Grade: Easy

An easy riverside bush track and boardwalk through woodland, mangroves and saltmarsh. A fabulous spot for birdwatching.

Access to walk: Start from Blackman Park playground, Lloyd Rees Drive, Lane Cove West.
