2017 NSW Bike Week is just around the corner and there's plenty happening in Lane Cove:

Free Commuter Cycling Skills Workshop

Sunday 17 September, 9:00am – 12:00pm at 2 Lincoln St, Lane Cove West.

Build confidence to cycle on roads and shared paths with tips about how to approach junctions, route your trip and arrive at your destination safely.

This workshop is for 16+ years only.

All participants must be able to ride a bike.

All participants will need to bring a road worthy bike and a correctly fitting Australian/NZ Standards helmet.

Free Rusty Riders: Adult Cycle Skills Workshop

 Sunday 17 September, 1:00pm – 4:00pm at 2 Lincoln St, Lane Cove West.

The workshop will include the following:

  • Helmet and bike check
  • Basic bike skills course
  • Bike safety talk, clothing and road rules
  • A short ride on a bike path (if time allows)

All participants must be able to ride a bike. This workshop is not designed for complete beginners.

Bike Week Breakfast

Thursday 21 September, 6:30am – 9:30am in the car park adjacent to 71 Longueville Road, Lane Cove.

If you feel like riding to work, please do not hesitate to drop in and enjoy a yummy breakfast!

Free Bike Maintenance Workshop

Thursday 28 September, 6:00pm – 9:00pm at Renegade Cycles, 161 Burns Bay Rd, Lane Cove.

This workshop provides practical maintenance advice and teaches you how to maintain and care for the various components of your bike including:

  • Brakes: brake pad position, brake balance, brake cable tension and brake lever position
  • Tyres and wheels: valves, punctures, how to change a tube, tyre inflation and wheel maintenance
  • Introduction to chains: cleaning, maintenance and lube tubes
  • Derailleurs: position, limits and gear cable tension

This workshop is open to Lane Cove residents only.

All participants will need to bring a road worthy bike and a correctly fitting Australian/NZ Standards helmet.

BFFR.jpgCelebrate Cycling in Lane Cove by joining the annual Big Family Fun Ride on

Sunday 17 September 2017 from 11:00am - 2:00pm.

There will be three routes – a 2.3 km Beginners’ Route for younger and less accomplished cyclists, a 4.9 km Intermediate Route to suit cyclists who are comfortable with a few hills, and an 11.6 km Accomplished Riders’ Route which is more challenging. All routes will be largely on Shared User Paths, off-road and away from busy streets. Convene at 11:00am at the car park on the corner of Longueville and Epping Roads (69 Longueville Road).

We will conclude at Blackman Park – your entry fee covers live music, activities, sausage sizzle and face painting.

COST: $4.13 ONLINE OR $5.00 ON THE DAY
