Upcoming Activities at the Nursery

 

Lane Cove Council runs regular workshops and activities on plant propagation, eco-gardening, composting, worm farming and much more over the coming months. The new schedule for 2011 will be coming soon!

Booking is essential for all workshop activities, please contact the Bushcare Co-ordinator either via telephone 02 9911 3579 or email bushcare@lanecove.nsw.gov.au to book your place or for more information about upcoming workshops. 

All events are free unless otherwise noted.

Workshops

Growing Native Plants From Cuttings

Saturday 6 October, 9am – 12pm

RSVP by 3 October

Learn to propagate native plants such as Grevillea and Correa by cuttings at this hands-on workshop. A handy technique for all gardeners. Workshop participants are also invited to take home a selection of free native seedlings for their garden.

Seed Collection Field Trip

Saturday 1 December, 9am – 12pm

From delicate grass seeds to hard woody fruits, our local native plants form and hold seeds in a range of fascinating ways. Come and learn the fine art of collecting seed, and practice your skills on a local bushwalk. Spaces limited.

Weekdays

Community Nursery and propagation activities

The Community Plant Nursery will be open each Friday between 10.00 am and 3.30 pm (excluding public holidays), where you are welcome to visit and participate in nursery activities.


Activities can include seed sowing, potting up plants, cleaning pots, controlling weeds, general administration. We ask that you RSVP your intention to visit to assist with organisation.

Eco Garden and Bushcare activities

Stoney Gully Bushcare/ Eco garden group

Are you interested in gardening, growing your own food or just being outdoors and meeting new people?

Then join the Stoney Gully Bushcare group to practice or learn new skills in the Eco Garden and improve the bushland gully surrounding the Nursery.

These group will meet on Fridays, please contact the Bushcare  Co-ordinator for more information on meeting dates.

Weekends

The Community Nursery is open on the first Saturday of several months throughout the year. RSVP's are required on 9911 3579.
