Upcoming Activities at the Nursery

 

Lane Cove Council runs regular workshops and activities on plant propagation, eco-gardening, composting, worm farming and much more over the coming months. See below for details!

Booking is essential for all workshop activities, please contact the Bushcare Co-ordinator either via telephone 02 9911 3579 or email bushcare@lanecove.nsw.gov.au to book your place or for more information about upcoming workshops. 

All events are free unless otherwise noted.

Eco Garden and Bushcare activities

Stoney Gully Bushcare/ Eco garden group

Are you interested in gardening, growing your own food or just being outdoors and meeting new people?

Then join the Stoney Gully Bushcare group to practice or learn new skills in the Eco Garden and improve the bushland gully surrounding the Nursery.

These group will meet on Fridays, please contact the Bushcare  Co-ordinator for more information on meeting dates.

There is a Compost and Worm Farm workshop coming up on Friday 18 September from 9.15am - 12pm. Please contact 9911 3507 for more details and to book your place.

 

Community Nursery and propagation activities

The Community Plant Nursery will be open each Friday between 10.30 am and 3.30 pm (excluding public holidays), where you are welcome to visit and participate in nursery activities.


Activities can include seed sowing, potting up plants, cleaning pots, controlling weeds, general administration. We ask that you RSVP your intention to visit to assist with organisation.

  • Fridays in June: 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th.
  • Fridays in July: 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st
  • Fridays in August: 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th

 

Plant Propagation workshops

 

Workshops or general nursery work happens on the

1st Saturday of each month, from 9.00 am – 12 noon.

During winter, propagation slows down but there are always interesting activities at the Nursery.

  • Sat 6 June: General nursery work
  • Sat 4 July: General nursery work
  • Sat 1 August: General nursery work
  • Sat 5 September: Growing Native Plants from Cuttings
