Interests
|
Spending time with family & friends while we talk,
walk, engage in social justice activities, garden, bush-walk, swim, eat
& drink, go to the theatre & galleries, go driving, camping and
generally have fun, try to stay healthy and look after each other. Just
ordinary life really.

My family have lived & sometimes worked in Lane Cove
for 29 years. My children went to St Michael's & Lane Cove West primary

I hold qualifications in Community Management, Vocational Training, Early
Childhood Development, Bush Regeneration, Counselling, Psychology and
Chemistry.
I am employed by The Australian Services Union NSW & ACT (Services)
where I am NSW Deputy President & President /Organiser of the Social
& Community Services Sector, for community workers and safe,
sustainable community organisations that work with disadvantaged people
& local communities.
I've worked in management and advocacy in small not for profit community
organisations such as family support, family day care, youth,

cultually & linguistically diverse people , as well as for State Peak

Why I Stood
for Council
|
Investing in our people
Lane Cove Council accountable, transparent and financially viable, saying
no to amalgamation with other larger councils. Our Library extension,
Austin St Car Park and other capital works, such as an Arts and Cultural
precinct built with resident consultation, not to a developer budget or
to meet Woolworths investors needs. Support
local child and family services, skills development for young people at
risk & explore family friendly work solutions.
Building a stronger community
No cheap sell off of community assets to Woolworths. Support local
groups, renew community infrastructure, promote community inclusion with
a strong events program . Maintain rates
concessions, promote significant sites ie Veterans Memorial, honor our
many noteworthy residents and pioneers, and acknowledge and work with
traditional Koori land owners.
Making Lane Cove better for all
ages
Increase older peoples opportunities to live independently, with safe
footpaths and attractive streetscapes. Adapt future housing to suit our
aging community, support the work of carers, promote a culture of life
long learning, improve public transport and raffic strategies. Improve
age relevant recreational opportunities in our parks and sporting
facilities, listen to young residents, keep CW School & residential
streets safe from Industrial Area traffic & parking, implement the Lane Cove Social Plan.
A dynamic heart- Our Plaza and
neighbourhood shopping strips
Creating a vibrant hub of activity, as a focal point for all Lane Cove,
with a wide range of housing in & near the centres. With sane traffic
management and convenient parking, for a commercial & cultural heart,
developing the Plaza as a source of resident pride, creativity and
energy. With a taskforce to lead revitalisation, a 3 year action plan to
focus on future opportunities, a program of events and entertainment and
celebrating our cultural and linguistic diversity. Developing the
potential of Lane Cove West and other shopping strips. All underpinned
with improved transport links.
Our environment, our bushland and
waterways
Protect & enhance our natural environment, bush & foreshores, and
respect our unique landscape heritage. Be emergency ready ie bushfire/oil
spills,. Ensure no residential development in the
industrial area, encourage clean industries. Demand world class Lane Cove
“In-tunnel filtration”. Ensure building setbacks and soft landscaping,
Improve waste reduction & recycling, become more water smart, work on
sustainable transport, and Improved public transport. Plan a sustainable,
compact & efficient
