| Why i stood for Council |
|
I have always enjoyed being involved in community groups and
have always had an interest in issues facing the community.
The particular issue that prompted me to stand was the Stand
development proposal for the community land in Austin st. This
proposal did not seem to represent a fair deal for the community,
was out of keeping with the village atmosphere but most significantly
would have prevented the Council from being able to expand the
library on one level!
Other matters that concerned me were the scale of some developments
in our residential areas and the loss of heritage items. I also
believed that Council should play an important role in providing
community facilities and supporting community and cultural groups.
I really like Lane Cove as a place to live – our location
is so close to the city but yet we have a green and treed environment
with wonderful bushland, parks and foreshore reserves to enjoy.
We need to value and protect this! |
