Kindy Cove aims to provide quality long day care for children 6 weeks to 6 years of age and their families by providing a safe, secure and stimulating environment. Kindy Cove’s daily practice, policy and procedures reflect principles set by the National Quality Framework and the principles, practices and learning outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework. We continually strive to achieve and sustain high quality care in all areas.
In relation to children
Kindy Cove acknowledges the critical importance that quality early childhood education and care has on a child’s future. Our programming and care routines reflect this by being play-based, child centred and respecting children’s individual, cultural and linguistically diverse needs. We view children as capable, competent, co-contributors and acknowledge them as active participants in their own learning. We consult with children regarding a range of aspects of the curriculum.
In relation to staff
Kindy Cove believes that the role of educators is to provide a stimulating and responsive environment where positive reinforcement and encouragement make learning possible. The staff strive to work as a team and to enhance their relationships with each other. Our teamwork supports individuals to further their education and maintain their ongoing professional learning and development. Educators engage in critical reflection of the philosophy, ethics and our practices to enrich decision making about children’s learning.
In relation to families
Kindy Cove aims to develop and sustain collaborative relationships that foster mutual respect with families and acknowledge the critical importance of children, parents and educators as equal partners in a learning community that promotes the wellbeing, education and development of all children. This ensures continuity of learning and care for children, based on open communication and reinforces a developing understanding and respect for self and others within the context of our centre’s culture.
In relation to the community
Kindy Cove embraces the local community and its resources, to expand children’s knowledge, values and the importance of their environment. We strive to support children in the ways they connect with the natural world to promote awareness of environmental and sustainable practices. We acknowledge and value our own indigenous heritage and those of the wider community - locally, nationally and internationally. We strive to value and connect with people to create a sustained learning community.
Kindy Cove believes that a philosophy statement is a fluid and evolving document that changes as new insights are gained and practice is evaluated. To ensure that we remain abreast of changing attitudes, policies, practices and new ideas, our philosophy will be evaluated by all stakeholders on an annual basis.
