Children and Families

 

Lane Cove Council understands and is committed to supporting children and families in our community. We offer a wide range of services, programs and projects designed to support the needs of our community.

Services we offer 


​Childcare services

Kindy Cove is located at 48 Phoenix Street, Lane Cove. It caters for 58 children daily between the ages of six weeks and six years old. It is a Council-sponsored long day care centre which offers a pre-school program for children 3-6 years old. The centre director works in collaboration with a Management Advisory Committee of parents, staff, Council and community representatives.

Community projects

Throughout the year we facilitate and plan projects and programs to support and promote health and wellbeing, skills development, community engagement, community capacity building and social cohesion and inclusion within the community.

Lane Cove Youth Centre

Located at 8 Little Street, Lane Cove, Lane Cove Youth Centre is a designated drop-in space for young people aged 11-17 years old. Young people can participate in a variety of activities and programs during the school term, and is staffed by qualified youth workers to help support, inform and refer young people to appropriate services.

Events

During the year there are number of key event that Council celebrates including Children's Week, National Child Protection Week, Grandparents Day, Mental Health Week, Youth Week, NAIDOC Week, Harmony Day, National Ride 2 School Day and Walk Safely to School Day.

National Child Protection Week 2022

National Child Protection Week aims to educate, engage and empower Australians to understand the complexity of child abuse and neglect and work together to prevent it. This is achieved by sharing and creating resources, and hosting webinars and events for communities to have conversations regardinchildren's safety and wellbeing.

Playgroup NSW, is the peak body representing playgroups across NSW, and is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting families and strengthening local communities through playgroups.

Lane Cove Junior Library

Lane Cove Junior Library is a vibrant welcoming environment that provides reading and study spaces for children and their carers.
