Council is currently consulting with the community on its Draft Climate Resilience Plan
Council declared a Climate Emergency in 2019 in recognition of the potential threats and impacts of the changing climate. This year, Council made a commitment to develop a Climate Resilience Plan to identify local climate shocks, community stressors and risks in response to the changing climate.
The increasing occurrence and intensity of extreme weather events is predicted to impact Lane Cove. Being prepared for climate shocks has multiple benefits. It means we can reduce the economic, social and environmental costs of disasters resulting from disruptions to Council's services, our community and impacts on our natural environment.
To increase our level of resilience and emergency preparedness, Council has prepared a Draft Climate Resilience Plan which includes goals, targets and actions we can work towards over the next five years.
