Step 3: Check Controls

If a Development Application is required for your small business you will be required to check the relevant Council planning controls as they relate to your proposal including car parking, hours of operation and signage which are principally contained within Lane Cove Development Control Plan 2010 specifically:

  • Part D – Commercial and Mixed Use Development
  • Part N – Signage and Advertising
  • Part R – Traffic, Transport and Parking

Council's Environmental Health Section requires registration and inspection of certain small businesses including skin penetration businesses, hairdressers and food premises. Further information on registration and the requirements is available for Health Premises (skin penetration and hair dressers) and Food Premises.

Should you require further assistance, please call Council on 9911 3555 or email service@lanecove.nsw.gov.au to speak to a Town Planner.
