The Western Desert Campaign in 1941 saw the Australian 6th Division capture Tobruk from the Italians. When Rommel entered the campaign the Australian 9th Division then defended Tobruk in an epic four-month siege earning them the nickname of the ‘Rats of Tobruk’. Lieutenant Colonel Rod Cooke (Retd) will discuss the Battles of Tobruk and the impact they had on the Western Desert Campaign.
