Discounts for Pensioners

Council provides a rebate to eligible pensioners of up to a maximum of $250 per year.

Who can get a rebate?

Holders of the following cards are eligible for the concession:

  • Holders of a Pensioner Concession Card (PCC) issued by Centrelink
  • Holders of a gold card embossed with ‘TPI’ (Totally Permanently Incapacitated)
  • Holders of a gold card embossed with ‘EDA’ (Extreme Disablement Adjustment)
  • War widow or widower or wholly dependant partner entitled to the Departement of Veterans’ Affairs income support supplement.*

Holders of cards other than those listed above are not eligible for the concession. 

Am I eligible?

To be eligible for the pensioner concession:

  • The property must be your sole or principal residence
  • The name on the pensioner concession card must match the property owner on the rate notice
  • The address shown on the concession card must match the property address
  • You must have a current Pensioner Concession Card issued by Centrelink or the Department of Veterans' Affairs (some Veterans’ Affairs pensioners may be subject to a means test to determine eligibility)

How to apply

To apply for a pensioner concession:

  • Have your rates assessment number and pensioner concession card number and date of grant handy
  • Know when you moved into your property
  • Know if you have claimed a pension discount on another property in the last year
  • Know what your share of the property you own is.
  • Have a copy of your Pensioner Concession Card, front and back

Attend Council to submit the application. Please bring a completed Council Pensioner Rates Rebate Form, a current Rate notice (if available) and Pensioner Concession Card.
