The Lane Cove Live Music Alliance, with Lane Cove Council, 2MBS Fine Music Sydney and Modern Sounds Music present International Jazz Day at The Canopy! 

Bring a picnic, sit on the grass and enjoy this great lineup of fine jazz artists! 

STRINGYBARK JAZZ: 11:00am

This Big Band plays all styles of jazz, from swing and blues to Latin and ballads. A well-established 20-piece ensemble, they are part of the Lane Cove Community Band organisation.

PENNY COOK / NEVILLE KAYE: 12:00pm

Penny Cook is a Lane Cove local with a lifelong passion for jazz and performance. Inspired by greats like Tony Bennett and Diana Krall, she brings a heartfelt connection to the American Songbook.
Neville Kaye is a Sydney-based singer-songwriter and guitarist. With a jazz background, multiple songwriting awards, and eight albums to his name, he performs widely including with his band, The Songs of Dire Straits.

THE BUG HUNTERS: 1:00pm

This Lane Cove jazz and blues trio features Alex Johnson (vocals/sax/flute), Patrick Lorrimer (bass), and Nigel Spence (sax/flute). Lifelong musicians and members of Lane Cove Community Bands, they bring soulful, vibrant energy to jazz standards and blues classics.

PAUL BENNETT: 2:00pm

Paul Bennett blends jazz violin and vocals with cool, classic style. A Lane Cove local and founder of the Lane Cove Live Music Alliance, Paul draws on decades of performance across genres including folk and blues to deliver smooth jazz with flair.

TAMIS HUNTER: 3:00pm

Tamis Hunter is a jazz pianist currently studying at the Sydney Conservatorium. Influenced by jazz legends like Bud Powell and Bill Evans, he performs regularly across Sydney and brings a fresh and expressive style to his sets.

HEADLINE ACT – JULIA SHVED PROJECT: 4:00pm

International jazz vocalist Julia Shved brings European charm and technical mastery to her performances. Backed by long-time collaborators, her band delivers rich, emotive jazz at top Sydney venues including The Roosevelt and Foundry 616.
