Become a Member of Shorelink Libraries

Shorelink Libraries will be offline for a Software Upgrade from Monday 14 September to Wednesday 30 September. During this time no new memberships can be accepted. If you would like to become a member please visit us after this period.

How to Join

  • Any NSW resident aged 16 and over can join the Library under reciprocal membership arrangements.
  • Membership is free.
  • Bring photo ID with your name and current home address. 
  • Alternatively you can bring two forms of identification.
  • Children and teenagers aged 15 years or younger will need a parent or a guardian to register them.

Terms and Conditions

  • Privacy Statement: Your personal details are required under the New South Wales Library Act 1939, Library Amendment Bill 2011 and Library Regulation 2018 and will only be used in connection with the requirements of this legislation.
  • Your membership must be validated within 90 days by visiting your library with proof your of name and current NSW address.
  • If you do not have a current NSW Drivers Licence/Photo Card, two forms of identification are required.
  • If you are under 16 years of age you must have your application entered by a parent/guardian who needs to supply identification.
  • Parents/guardians are responsible for items issued to people under 16 years of age.
  • I understand that my membership of Lane Cove and Hunters Hill Libraries will allow me to borrow from other libraries in the Shorelink Library Network. I agree to abide by the membership terms and conditions of all the Shorelink Libraries.

    By joining you agree to abide by all Lane Cove and Hunters Hill Library rules, polices and guidelines, including:

- accept responsibility for all items borrowed on my card.

- return or renew items on or before the due date.

- if over 13 years of age agree to pay overdue fees if items are returned after the due date.

- will pay replacement costs plus processing charges for any items lost, stolen or damaged.

- report lost/stolen membership cards to Lane Cove Library as soon as possible.

- notify Lane Cove Library of any changes to contact details provided.

- observe the requirements of the NSW Library Act and Regulations.

Digital Only Membership

  • Residents who live in the Lane Cove or Hunters Hill Local Government Areas are eligible for an eCard.
  • Access our Online Resources, including eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines and Beamafilm movie streaming.

This option is only for residents of the Lane Cove or Hunters Hill Local Government Areas and is for access to online resources only.
You will be required to confirm your residential address via email before accessing online resources. No physical card is required. You can upgrade your membership at any time by visiting the library and providing identification showing your current address. Upgrading your membership will allow you to borrow physical library items.


Borrowing Policies

  • You can borrow items using your physical Library card, an electronic version, or the Library app.
  • Fast Reads, Fast Flicks, Discovery Collection, and Seed Library items can only be borrowed using an adult library card.
  • Late return fees apply to Adult and Young Adult items that are not returned by the due date. 
  • Reservation fees are applied to Adult and Young Adult items that are not currently on shelf.
  • All items must be returned in the same condition they were borrowed in or replacement fees may apply.
  • If any personal details change or your card is lost, please notify the library. A fee applies for the replacement of lost cards.
