That's Me In The Corner (Best of Fringe)

There’s a guy in the corner of almost every Australian pub.

He’s got an acoustic guitar, a slightly cooked PA system, and 300 songs he can play on autopilot (maybe too confidently), while people yell at him. He knows how to read a room, survive awkward requests, and stretch “Wonderwall” for another chorus.

That’s Me in the Corner” is about that guy. An echo of Australia's former pub muso glory.

The show follows local pub muso Gigz, more Freddie Mercury than Barnsey, trying to hold it together inside the sticky-floored chaos of the pub. Through live music and comedy, Gigz unpacks the strange emotional world that exists behind the cover songs and pub banter.

What starts as a familiar Friday-night pub set, slowly becomes something far more profound. Beneath the jokes and jangling rock is a deeper reckoning with masculinity, validation, loneliness, and live music culture.

Funny, uncomfortable, and more nostalgic than a Bubble O' Bill, “That’s Me in the Corner” asks a simple question: In an ever fracturing world of algorithms, streaming platforms, and bedroom musicians do we still need the pub muso?
