Lane Cove Council is proud to host this free outdoor screening as part of QUEER SCREEN Mardi Gras Film Festival 2026.
A rare animated film with a LGBTIQ+ lead, this sci-fi action comedy – featuring the voices of Abbi Jacobson (Broad City), Olivia Colman (Jimpa) and Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids) – is chaotic fun for the whole rainbow family.
When creative outsider Katie Mitchell (Jacobson) is accepted into the film school of her dreams, her plans to meet “her people” at college are upended when her nature-loving dad (Danny McBride, The Righteous Gemstones) insists on one final family road trip. They’re joined by her wildly positive mum (Rudolph), quirky little brother Aaron and delightfully chubby pug Monchi. But the Mitchells’ plans are interrupted when evil A.I. Pal (Colman) orders people’s beloved electronic devices to take over, from mobile phones and appliances to Furbies. With the help of two friendly malfunctioning robots, the Mitchells will have to embrace each other’s differences to save the world!
This free outdoor screening is presented with IVF Australia, Lane Cove Council, the Canopy, and Rainbow Families NSW. Part of the QUEER SCREEN community program supported by Allianz.
