Changes to Traffic Conditions in Greenwich

Council will be coordinating road closures in Greenwich as part of the New Year’s Eve (NYE) celebrations at Manns Point, Greenwich. These arrangements are part of a standard operational shutdown across various harbour foreshore locations across Sydney.

The proposed Road Closure Plan is approved by TfNSW and Council. NSW Police may make changes to the road closures without notice to Council if Police deem it necessary.

The following changes to the traffic and parking conditions will be in place from 6:00pm on Wednesday 31 December 2025 to 1:00am, Thursday 1 January 2026.

There will be no vehicular access for residents or their visitors at the following locations:

  1. George Street, east of Manns Avenue
  2. Albert Street at George Street; and
  3. Gother Avenue

One-Way Access and Traffic Flow Parking

To facilitate traffic flow and circulation during the road closure, Council is implementing a one-way arrangement in the following streets:

  1. Manns Avenue – one-way southbound only
  2. George Street, between Manns Avenue & St Lawrence Street – one-way westbound only; and
  3. St Lawrence Street – one-way northbound only

For safety reasons, residents parked in the following locations will need to turnaround to exit the peninsula if it is safe to do so, as these vehicles are facing in the opposite direction to the one-way traffic movement.

  1. Western side of Manns Avenue
  2. Northern side of George Street, between Manns Avenue and St Lawrence Street
  3. Eastern side of St Lawrence Street

Please remember that the Greenwich peninsula is an Alcohol-Free Zone, in force from 3:00pm, 31 December 2025 until 9:00am, 1 January 2026. Residents are advised to not consume alcohol in the surrounding streets or parks during this period.
