Keeping Community Informed on Upcoming Public Tree Works

Lane Cove Council has launched a new dedicated webpage to give residents and ratepayers easy access to up-to-date information about upcoming public tree works in their area. A public tree refers to a tree that is planted on land owned or managed by Lane Cove Council. This includes all trees located within parks, reserves, bushland, streets and nature strips.

This new initiative reflects Council’s commitment to transparency, environmental care, and community engagement. By centralising all notifications in one accessible location, residents can now see details of planned works, including the removal of any public trees or significant vegetation, and understand the reasons behind each decision.

Council will continue to notify nearby residents who may be impacted by tree works via letterbox notifications, however this webpage will be a supplementary resource for the broader community.

Your One-Stop Tree Works Hub
The webpage lists all scheduled maintenance, pruning, and removal works on public trees, and will be regularly updated to reflect any changes caused by weather conditions, site access issues, or urgent priority requests. It also includes information on Council’s 28-day notification policy for non-urgent removals, with clear signage installed on site to further alert the community.

Balancing Safety and Environmental Stewardship
While Council always seeks to preserve and protect our urban forest, some works are essential to ensure public safety - especially in cases where a tree is diseased, damaged, or poses an immediate risk. For urgent removals, the webpage will provide post-removal explanations so residents are fully informed.

Enhancing Communication with Residents
The new platform makes it easier for residents to stay connected with Council’s tree management program. Whether you’re interested in upcoming works in your street, or want to understand how decisions are made, the information is now just a click away.
