16 September 2026 Update
Council will close Tantallon Oval and Kingsford Smith Oval from 6:00am to 3:00pm tomorrow, Thursday 17 September, to carry out Broadleaf Weed and Bindii Spraying using Casper Turf Herbicide. Signs will be placed this afternoon.

Upcoming spraying to take place late August - early September 2026.
Council contractors will commence Broadleaf Weed and Bindii Spraying in some parks and open spaces from late August through to early September 2026. This timeframe allows for working with changes in weather. The herbicide to be used for small parks and open spaces will be 'Spearhead Selective Herbicide'.
Notification signs have been put out at the major entrances to the parks. The time of spray will be updated immediately prior to the pesticide application and remain in place until the park is reopened for public use later that day. The public is requested to follow on-site signage and not to use the parks until re-entry is permitted.
We are aware that our open spaces are important places to exercise and are doing our best to minimise the disruption while this annual process is carried out.
