The NSW Government provides a range of programs and incentives to help residents reduce their energy use and save money. 

  • The Home Energy Saver program provides homeowners, landlords, and renters with financial assistance to install energy saving upgrades such as rooftop solar, batteries, induction cooktops, insulation, switchboard upgrades, and much more. Eligible households can receive:
    • Zero-interest loans of up to $15,000 (only for homeowners with a combined annual income of up to $210,000)
    • Discounts of up to $4,000 (only for homeowners or tenants with a combined annual income of up to $80,000 and who hold a concession card)
  • Get a subsidised home energy rating to find out how efficient your home currently is at keeping itself cool in summer and warm in winter, and how to reduce your energy bills. The NSW Government has partnered with ZapCat to run these assessments.

  • The Low Income Household Rebate helps eligible concession cardholders pay their electricity bills with a $285 rebate per household, and a one-off relief payment of $500. 
  • Households can also access discounted upgrades to energy efficient lighting, air conditioning, hot water systems, and pool pumps through the Household Energy Saving Upgrades program.
