Tuesday 11 June , 6:15pm. German East Africa campaign World War One.

World War I is viewed as the first global war fought on multiple continents. In 1914 Germany embarked on a number of battle and guerrilla actions across German East Africa that would continue for the duration of the war. It’s an often-forgotten campaign that was fought on limited resources with the aim of consuming material that would otherwise have gone to Europe.

Rod Cooke will discuss the German East Africa campaign. Rod served as a Cavalry Officer in the Australian Regular Army for 16 years, in the Army Reserve for a further 21 years, and is a member of the Lane Cove RSL Sub-branch.
