Wadanggari Park, St Leonards

The new green space has been named Wadanggari Park after our community put forward names and then voted on the most popular ones. Wadanggari means 'Banksia' in Sydney Indigenous language.

Wadanggari Park is located at 568 Pacific Highway, St Leonards, opposite St Leonards train station.

Wadanggari Park is now open

The 4,750 square metres of open space features a lawn, plaza, passive nooks, and a regional scale adventure playground. The design features best practice in landscape urban design and safety and is seamlessly connected to Mall 88, the JQZ development, which includes the new St Leonards Library, retail, public toilets and a 300-space public basement car park with two hours free parking.

The Pacific Highway pedestrian underpass has been upgraded to improve lighting and safety and an elevator has been installed for direct access to the Park, and to street level.

The pedestrian underpass that connects Wadanggari Park to The Forum in St Leonards has reopened following a refurbishment. It was closed due to work at Wadanggari Park but is now open, well-lit and provides easy access to the train station, hospital and shops. The historic images throughout the tunnel were provided by Lane Cove Library and feature transport in the area throughout the years – from horse and carts to tramcars.
