Youth Week 2025

Lane Cove Council is proud to continue our tradition of putting young people in the driver's seat for Youth Week celebrations! Each year, we partner directly with the amazing young minds in our community to create events that truly reflect their interests, passions, and energy.

For Youth Week 2025, the court came alive with our electrifying 3v3 Basketball Competition at Kingsford Smith Oval Basketball court - an event designed BY youth, FOR youth! Local teams brought incredible skills, sportsmanship, and community spirit as they competed in this fast-paced tournament.

This year's basketball competition transformed from ideas in a youth week planning session to a full-blown tournament complete with music, food, and an atmosphere of friendly competition. Our local young people worked alongside Council staff to coordinate everything from event logistics to awards.

What makes our Youth Week events special? They're not just attendance opportunities – they're genuine partnerships where young people:

  • Develop their leadership and project management skills
  • Deliver unforgettable experiences for their peers
  • Drive positive change in our community
More Than Just a Game

The 3v3 competition created a space where young people could showcase their athletic talents, build connections with peers, and engage with their community in a meaningful way.
