Local Government Week, from 4 - 10 August, celebrates the range and diversity of services councils offer the community: everything from community events, childcare centres, libraries, sports fields, parks, and cemeteries, to food safety checks, building and development and pet registration. Learn more here.

This week, we'll be sharing some information about Council and our people. To kick things off, we've developed a budget snapshot.

How Council is Investing in Our Community: 2025–2026 Budget Snapshot

As we begin the new financial year, we’re excited to give you a high-level overview of how Council is allocating its budget for 2025–2026.

Council is planning to spend $120 million this financial year - around $70 million will go towards our ongoing services like waste collection, libraries, maintenance and community programs, while $50 million will be invested in building and upgrading things like roads, parks and public facilities.

These funds are distributed across a wide range of services and projects that support and enhance our local community.

To make this easier to understand, we’ve created a clear and concise infographic. It shows exactly how every $100 collected from rates, grants, and fees, and other income is invested across key areas—from infrastructure and community programs to environmental initiatives and public facilities.

Take a look and see how we’re working to make Lane Cove an even better place to live, work, and play.
