Join us for the inaugural St Leonards Lunar Laneways, a vibrant new twilight street party series celebrating Lunar New Year and the rich cultural diversity of our community.

The 2026 program, curated in partnership with the Korean Cultural Centre, will spotlight the traditions and contemporary energy of Korean culture through:

• Night markets and delicious food stalls
• Live performances including gugak music and K-pop
• Interactive workshops, cultural games and art installations
• Lanterns, light displays and immersive public art

Don’t worry, there will be plenty of other lunar traditions from across Asia too!

This free, family-friendly celebration will transform Canberra Avenue and Marshall Lane into a glowing festival hub beneath Wadanggari Park, just steps away from St Leonards Station.

Mark your calendar and celebrate the start of the Lunar Laneways tradition - where light, music and community come together under the summer sky.

Mayor Merri Southwood is looking forward to this new event for St Leonards: “St Leonards Lunar Laneways is a celebration of culture, community and connection. This new event brings people together in our streets to enjoy the vibrancy of Lunar New Year traditions, while supporting local businesses and showcasing the diversity that makes Lane Cove such a welcoming place.”

St Leonards Lunar Laneways is proudly funded by the NSW Government’s Open Streets Program, led by Transport for NSW. Lane Cove Council was successful in receiving $331,500 through the program. The event series run for three years under this funding, with Chinese and Vietnamese cultural curation in 2027 and 2028 respectively.

Minister for Transport, John Graham said:

“We’re excited to support Lunar Laneways in St Leonards.

“Too often our main streets are something we drive through, rather than drive to. Our main streets are a critical part of our social infrastructure, and this program demonstrates how we can use our streets to bring communities together and drive revenue for local businesses.

“The Open Streets program temporarily transforms our main streets into thriving, vibrant public event spaces.

“The colour and diversity of these 240 events across NSW, celebrates the unique personality of each town or suburb. This is what our vibrancy agenda is all about, backing locals to create events and entertainment that works for their local community.”

메리 사우스우드 시장은 St Leonard 에서 새롭게 열리는 이번 행사를 기대하며 다음과 같이 말했습니다.

“세인트 레오나즈 루나 레인웨이즈는 문화와 공동체, 그리고 사람들을 하나로 잇는 축제입니다. 이번 행사는 설날의 전통과 활기를 거리에서 함께 즐기며, 지역 상권을 활성화하고 레인 코브를 더욱 따뜻하고 환영받는 지역으로 만드는 다양한 문화를 널리 알리는 소중한 기회가 될 것입니다.”

세인트 레너즈 루나 레인웨이즈 (St Leonards Lunar Laneways)는 NSW 주정부의 열린 거리 프로그램의 지원으로 행되는 지역 문화 행사입니다. 레인 코브 카운슬이 총 331,500달러의 지원금을 받아 운영하며, 3년에 걸쳐 2027년에는 중국 문화 중심과 2028년에는 베트남 문화 중심으로 이어질 예정입니다.

존 그레이엄 NSW 교통부 장관은 이번 행사에 대해 이렇게 전했습니다.

“St Leonards에서 열리는 루나 레인웨이즈를 지원하게 되어 매우 기쁩니다.

대부분의 경우, 중심 거리는 단순히 ‘지나가는 길’로만 이용되곤 합니다. 하지만 중심 거리는 지역 사회를 연결하는 중요한 공간입니다. 이번 프로그램을 통해 거리를 활용하면 주민들이 함께 모이고, 지역 상권에도 활력이 생기는 모습을 보여줍니다.

이 열린 거리 프로그램은 중심 거리를 잠시 문화와 축제가 있는 활기찬 공간으로 바꿉니다.
