Close up of Tawny Frogmouth on branch

Bushland, parks and gardens of Lane Cove provide valuable habitat to the native animals which live in our suburbs. Around 90% of Lane Cove has been cleared for development, so our remaining green space is critical for the ongoing survival of our wildlife. Some animal species have adapted very well to living in suburbia (for example Brush-turkeys, Rainbow Lorikeets, Possums) while others such as Swamp Wallabies, Echidnas and Lace Monitors have become rare or transient visitors to our small and fragmented bushland reserves.
