Lane Cove Lights Up with Mardi Gras & Pride Celebrations
As Sydney’s iconic Mardi Gras Festival takes over the city this February, the Lane Cove community is joining in with a vibrant program of local events celebrating inclusion, diversity and Pride. From sport to film and music under the stars, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Galuwa Recreation Centre Pride Day - Friday 30 January
Kicking off Lane Cove’s Pride festivities, the brand-new Galuwa Recreation Centre will host Pride Day on Friday 30 January from 5 pm to 8 pm. This twilight event celebrates diversity and encourages LGBTQ+ participation in tennis and pickleball - whether you’re a seasoned player or picking up a racquet for the first time.

Queer Screen Free Screening: The Mitchells vs The Machines - Sunday 22 February
As part of the Queer Screen Mardi Gras Film Festival 2026, Lane Cove Council will present a free outdoor film screening at The Canopy, Rosenthal Ave, on Sunday 22 February from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.
This community movie night features the wildly entertaining The Mitchells vs The Machines — a sci-fi animated comedy with a queer lead character that blends family fun with themes of creativity, connection and embracing difference. The screening is suitable for all ages and promises to be a highlight of the local Mardi Gras calendar.

Mardi Gras Sounds - Coming Soon to The Canopy
Get ready to feel the rhythm of Mardi Gras in the heart of Lane Cove with Mardi Gras Sounds – an evening of legendary tunes and celebratory anthems spinning live at The Canopy on Saturday 28 February from 6:00pm - 8:00pm
While exact 2026 dates are yet to be confirmed, past events have featured DJs mixing classic and contemporary Mardi Gras favourites - think Kylie, CeCe and more - in a free community party atmosphere. Locals and visitors alike can expect an open-air celebration of music, joy and Pride.
