HomeCycle

In exciting news, Council has partnered with a new doorstep recycling service provider called HomeCycle. From Friday 1 March 2024, HomeCycle will replace the service Council provided through RecycleSmart.

Just like our previous service, HomeCycle offers a free and easy way for Lane Cove residents to recycle and repurpose items that don’t belong in household bins. With HomeCycle, you can easily book a free collection of unlimited bags containing tricky-to-recycle items once every month, subject to availability.

By booking in for the minimum of three bags per collection you’ll be helping to streamline our collection process and contribute further to our environmental sustainability efforts. More bags per collection means reduced transportation and a lower overall carbon footprint.

Thank you for your cooperation as we transition to this new and improved recycling service following our initial trial with RecycleSmart. Together, we will continue to make a positive impact on our environment.

FAQs to find out more

What’s changed?

Council will launch the HomeCycle service on 1 March 2024 to deliver our ongoing doorstep collection service previously provided by RecycleSmart.

Why has Council changed the service provider?

At the end of the agreed 12 month trial period with RecycleSmart, Council went out to market to assess offers from service providers in this space. HomeCycle were selected as the preferred supplier for our ongoing service as they were able to provide quality services with greater cost efficiency for the long-term sustainability of the service.

What happens to my existing booking with RecycleSmart?

RecycleSmart will honour existing bookings until 29 March 2024. If you have a collection booked after this date, you have the option to retain this booking at a cost of $7 per bag, with a minimum of 2 bags per collection, or cancel this booking and book a free collection with HomeCycle.

How do I order a collection from HomeCycle?

Simply visit the Lane Cove HomeCycle website, create an account and follow the ‘book your collection’ prompts.

How often can I use the HomeCycle service?

Households are limited to one booking per month, however wait times between bookings will be dependent on demand.

Why does the HomeCycle service specify a minimum of three bags per collection?

A minimum of three bags (or boxes) per collection streamlines our collection process and contributes significantly to environmental sustainability. Collecting a minimum of three bags or boxes per collection means reduced transportation and a lower overall carbon footprint.
